Formerly known as the Cornwall Detachment, the Cornwall Regional Task Force (CRTF) was established in January 2010.  The CRTF is a joint forces partnership that includes the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, Canada Border Services Agency, Cornwall Community Police Service, Ontario Provincial Police and the Ontario Ministry of Finance. 
 
The CRTF's mandate is to enforce the law along the controlled-uncontrolled borders, gather intelligence, interdict the flow of contraband, and conduct criminal investigations into the illegal activities related to the smuggling of contraband.

The CRTF also concentrates on identifying and disrupting organized criminal activities in the area, which include human smuggling & trafficking of drugs, guns, tobacco and other related offences such as extortion and corruption.
